Jurgen Klopp has decided to give Loris Karius a final chance to prove himself as the former Mainz man is now set to remain Liverpool’s clear number 1, at least until the end of the season.
Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Roma’s Alisson Becker have been recently linked with a move to Anfield with the Reds said to be ready to bring in a new name if the goalkeeping situation doesn’t improve before the summer.
While Klopp signed Karius to bring in some competition for the underperforming Mignolet, both of them have been unconvincing in goal so far.
But Klopp, in his trademark style, has come out in full support of the duo and insists that they are scrutinised more than other goalkeepers in the league.
“I will only mention one name. Everyone talks about him with us, and that is Butland,” Klopp told the media (via the Telegraph).
“Fantastic goalkeeper but was he perfect? No. He wasn’t in that game (I saw). But everyone says ‘still better than our boys’.”

Klopp, unlike many of his counterparts, doesn’t like to speak about his transfer targets in public and the way he used Butland’s recent performance against Manchester United as a reference to support his own players suggests that the 24-year-old shot-stopper is certainly not on top of his shopping list.
Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is another name that has come up of late, but Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague has rubbished the rumours with the Slovenian said to be keen on renewing his contract with the La Liga giants.
“He is trying to renew his contract with Atletico,” Balague told Sky Sports.
“PSG have shown interest but I have heard nothing from Liverpool.”
