Manchester United came to Anfield with 7 more points than Liverpool, 21 goals scored and just 2 conceded but on the field, Jose Mourinho’s side never looked like a team that’s competing at the top.
Just like last season, the 54-year-old came with his same old negative strategy that lacked the courage to go for all three points and was successful in getting what he wanted, a 0-0 draw.
Jurgen Klopp, though, was understandably left frustrated as despite being the better side throughout the 90 minutes, the Reds had to settle for a third consecutive draw against the Manchester club.
“I think Man United came here for the point and they got it. We wanted three points and didn’t get it,” Klopp said after the game (via Sky Sports).
“I’m sure if we played like this, you could not do this at Liverpool. Obviously, for Man United it is OK. It’s quite difficult when a top-class team like Man United has that defensive approach.”
Mourinho: “I know you probably think we were defensive and they were offensive, but no!”

But Mourinho, as usual, showed after the game how his twisted bitter mind is never shy of trying to wind up his opponents. Liverpool attempted 19 shots and had
62% of the possession in the game and despite parking the bus himself throughout the game, the Portuguese had the courage to come out and call Klopp’s tactics defensive.
For us, it was another disappointing result and the clean sheet looked to be the only positive apart from the overall performance of the team.
With another crucial set of games coming in the next two weeks, the Reds will have to find a way to end the ongoing goal drought in order to get the season back on track in time.
