Barcelona are rumoured to be planning to return with some more ridiculous offers for Philippe Coutinho in January and the Catalan press has come up with a new story explaining their possible winter move.
According to the newspaper Sport, PSG are looking to scupper any hopes Barcelona have to sign Philippe Coutinho and this, in turn, has cautioned the La Liga club to rush into starting another transfer tussle with the Reds, even after facing embarrassment in the summer window.
The publication suggests that while it would be difficult for PSG to make a move for the Brazilian in January as they have already spent world record sums on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the Ligue 1 giants are preparing the ground for the next summer by trying to convince the 25-year-old against a move to Barcelona.
Interestingly, Brazilian publication Estadao towards the end of the summer window reported that Neymar has advised his childhood friend to stay at Liverpool and avoid joining Barcelona.
While usually, it’s quite hard to believe whatever comes out from Spanish publications regarding transfers, the story somewhat makes sense as it is not at all a secret now how PSG made it a mission to sign Neymar after their relationship deteriorated with Barcelona in the recent past.
Liverpool, though, would not be worrying about the Brazilian’s immediate future at the club as Coutinho still has a long-term contract with the club and he would know how causing another agitation for a move could risk his preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
It is inevitable though that Coutinho, like most South American players, will again try his best for a move away next summer and while his contingent can only hope to see a change of heart from Liverpool, he will be expected to give his best for the club before that to help us achieve our goals for the season.
