Liverpool scouts were present at Germany U-19s game against Belarus on Wednesday and were reportedly watching Bayer Leverkusen’s young midfield sensation Kai Havertz, according to various sources including the Echo.
And the exceptional talent didn’t disappoint his suitors at all as he scored 4 goals and 1 assist in a 5-1 thumping win in the U-19 Euro Championship qualifier.
On the international front, the youngster is yet to be called up for the senior squad, but at club level, Havertz has become an early trendsetter just like Ben Woodburn at Liverpool.
He became the club’s youngest ever Bundesliga debutante last year and their youngest ever goalscorer in the league by netting a late equaliser against Wolfsburg towards the end of the last season.
Primarily an all-action creative midfielder, the 18-year-old looks proficient in the central midfield position as well, and apparently, this is the reason Havertz’s playing style is being seen as a mix of that of former Germany captain Michael Ballack for his aerial prowess and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil for his technical ability.
At just 17-years-old, Kai #Havertz left his mark on his first season as a professional!

The teenager was being linked with a move to Anfield during the summer window as well and while Liverpool appear to be very keen on him, we are not the only club aware of this burgeoning talent as Real Madrid are also said to be monitoring him.
Despite his young age, Havertz is already enjoying first-team football at Leverkusen but at a top Premier League like Liverpool, he is unlikely to get such luxury as it’s a far more physically demanding competition than the Bundesliga.
