Real Madrid have reportedly rejected a €50m offer from Liverpool for their attacking midfielder Marco Asensio.
Liverpool have been continuously linked with Asensio in last few months and according to Spanish newspaper AS, the Reds have finally made an ambitious bid for the talented midfielder.
It was rumoured recently that Asensio is not happy at Real Madrid due to lack of playing time and is considering a move away from the Spanish capital.
The 21-year-old, who has also been linked with Juventus, has started just 8 games in La Liga this season. While the youngster has had fewer opportunities this term, it is believed that Zinedine Zidane sees him as a very important part of the team for next season and will make space for him by selling James Rodriguez in the summer.
It was rumoured last week that Liverpool have enquired about Asensio’s availability but it seems that Real’s hierarchy are reluctant to lose one of their brightest young stars as they plan to rebuild the squad this summer.
Real Madrid are due to hold presidential elections very soon and Florentino Perez would avoid going against any popular opinion at Santiago Bernabeu.
Asensio provided assist for the winning goal against Bayern Munich in Champions League last week and the young star again impressed in the return leg by scoring a brilliant goal in a 4-2 win against the Germans.
Liverpool are believed to be preparing for big money signings this summer as a possible Champions League participation next season will require a bigger and better squad. The Reds have also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt lately.
Do you think Liverpool should spend such a big amount on a young player given his inexperience and how difficult the Premier League can be for foreign stars?
