It would be too early to judge the players from Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly win against Tranmere Rovers but new boy Dominic Solanke gave us a little glimpse of what can be expected from the 19-year-old in the coming seasons.
Jurgen Klopp seemed to be happy with the England youngster’s debut performance and while the German admitted that Solanke already has a lot of good attributes to his game, he also believes that how the youngster fits in his future plans depends on how his development shapes up in the near future.
“I have all the time in the world, but if he brings a little bit of a rush with his development, then everything is good,” Klopp said while addressing the press following the 4-0 win.
“He is an offensive player, a really skilled boy. He has to improve, of course, but a lot of things are already really good. First touch, movement, a lot of things. So it’s about him, if you want, and the situation.”
The U-20 World Cup winner, who left Chelsea in order to keep his development on track under Klopp, is surely a top talent and has the potential to become a key player for us in the future.
On transfers, Klopp remains confident of his patient approach and insisted that he is not nervous about Liverpool’s transfer activity in the window.
Meanwhile, rumours are growing that there has been positive developments lately between Liverpool and Southampton regarding Virgil van Dijk.
It is clear from that recent embarrassing episode that the Dutchman is eager to sign for the Reds this summer and there is a lot of time left in the window for us to make things happen regarding the move.
While except Everton no other club in the Premier League has been ultra busy this summer, it is of little importance what others are doing if we have our plans in place for recruitments this summer.
Do you think Dominic Solanke will develop quickly enough to make some impact for us next season?
