Liverpool are said to be in the market for a new striker this summer and the Reds have been linked with a host of marksmen lately, including Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon and Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg.
One name linked with us that is not as celebrated as other rumoured targets is Sampdoria forward Patrik Schick. The Czech Republic international is said to be a target for a number of top clubs from Europe, including Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the player’s representatives confirmed earlier today that several teams, including Liverpool, are ready to pay his release clause of €25m.
Di Marzio adds in his report that while interest in Schick keeps on growing with Roma being the latest club to join the race for the striker, Juventus are in advanced talks with the player and the Serie A champions are favourites to sign him.
The 21-year-old, who started his youth career with Sparta Prague, joined Sampdoria last summer and has scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions this season for the Genoan side.
Daniel Sturridge is back playing again and scoring goals, but the England international is still recovering from his hip muscle strain. Going by his poor fitness history, Klopp will have to sign another striker for the first team even if the 27-year-old stays with us next season.
Given his poor injury record, do you think Sturridge can be our main striker next season?
