Lucas Leiva is very likely to leave the Reds this summer and Jurgen Klopp would be looking for a defensive midfielder to fill the void.
A number of central midfielders have been linked with Liverpool recently, including Naby Keita of RB Leipzig, and the Reds are now rumoured to be following Roma’s Leandro Paredes.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a €30m move for Paredes in January but the Reds did not make any signings in the winter eventually.
The Reds are said to be back for the Argentinian and will be competing with Juventus for the midfielder’s signature, according to Transfer Market Web.
The report claims that while Juventus are leading the race for Paredes, Liverpool are back in the hunt for the 22-year-old who could leave the Romans for around €25m this summer.
Paredes is primarily a defensive midfielder who can also play in a more advanced central midfield role. The former Boca Juniors man has made 40 appearances in all competitions for Roma so far this season and has scored 3 goals and has assisted for 1.
The Spanish press have come up with another ridiculous rumour as Marca claim that the Reds have made a €75million offer from Monaco’s man of the hour Kylian Mbappe and the bid has been immediately rejected by the new Ligue 1 champions.
The rumour has been rubbished by Liverpool Echo who are confident that no bid for the 18-year-old star has been made yet by the Reds.
Mbappe is currently the most wanted man in world football and any transfer movement for the striker will demand a fee which could break the previous world record for transfers.
Liverpool are expected to spend big this summer with a desperate need to improve the squad depth, but the Reds would not be looking to put all their eggs in one basket and hence the story makes no sense.
With a number of positions to be strengthened this summer, do you think Liverpool should spend such a big amount on an 18-year-old?
