RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita has been heavily linked with a summer move to Anfield lately, but the 22-year-old might have other plans for his future.
In a recent interview with France Football, Keita was asked about his ultimate dream as a player, to which he replied: “I would like to become a great African player, like Didier Drogba or Samuel Eto’o”.
“I would like to represent Africa around the world and make the continent shine by playing for one of the best clubs in the world, Barca or Real. But for now, we are still far away.”
Naby Keita has helped RB Leipzig qualify for the Champions League in their first ever season in Bundesliga and is currently one of the sought after midfielders in the world.
While it is natural for a good young player to aspire high, Liverpool are themselves a great option for world-class talent and the Reds should be wary of signing players who would try to use us as a stepping stone for a future move to Spain.
Klopp played Coutinho in the number 8 role instead of the left wing against West Ham United on Sunday and the Brazilian did exceptionally well by inspiring the Reds to a crucial 4-0 victory. If Coutinho can excel in his new position, the Reds might not have to look for a new central midfielder this summer.
Do you think we should avoid signing a player who already has a Barcelona or Real Madrid move in his mind for the future?
