Reported Liverpool target Marco Asensio could leave Real Madrid this summer in order to get more first-team chances, according to the Spanish press.
Liverpool were rumoured to have submitted an official bid of €50m for Asensio last month but Florentino Perez wants to keep hold of the player who is a crowd favourite at Real Madrid.
Despite Real’s reluctance to sell Asensio, manager Zinedine Zidane has preferred to play other players more than the young star and he is not happy with the current situation.
Diario Gol is now reporting that the attacking midfielder has told Real Madrid to sort out the issue or he will leave the club this summer, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus interested in his services.
The La Liga club are due to hold presidential elections later this year and Perez would not want to risk the wrath of the club faithful by selling one of their prized assets.
Asensio has started just 10 La Liga games this season but the 21-year-old has made an impact every time he has been given the chance to shine.
There is no doubt that Asensio is a star in making and the player’s uneasiness with the club is justified as Los Blancos have a long history of wasting talent by overcrowding the squad with superstars.
While it would be interesting to see if Liverpool will make a move again, signing a talent like Asensio would definitely improve the current squad and will exhibit good ambition from the owners.
Do you think Liverpool should give Real Madrid the taste of their own medicine by pushing for Marco Asensio?
