Liverpool may have told Barcelona on several occasions that Philippe Coutinho is not available at any cost, but the Spanish media are apparently as obsessed as the Catalans about the idea of the Brazilian leaving the Reds for Spain.
While Barcelona have been unethically using Neymar to push Coutinho to join them, the Spanish press is not too behind in contributing to their cause by posting baseless stories regarding the player, the latest being a laughable report from a Spanish newspaper.
The newspaper Sport has released a groundless story saying the Reds have demanded €90m for their star playmaker. The report also claims that Coutinho has already agreed to join Barcelona and the negotiations about the transfer fee are the only thing left now.
The newspaper also shamelessly suggests that Barca would require the Brazilian to pressurise Liverpool for the transfer in order to bring down the fee.
This is not a new tactic for Barcelona as the La Liga club had adopted the same route to sign Javier Mascherano and Luis Suarez from us in the past.
While Coutinho signed a new deal to stay with us until 2022, Liverpool will need to get back to regular Champions League football in order to ward off the Spanish clubs from poaching our stars.
What do you think is the current market value of Philippe Coutinho?
Do you think FSG can ignore an offer of €90m for our Brazilian star?
