Liverpool may be favourites to take the fourth spot in the final standings of the Premier league this season but the Reds could have been in a way better position if not for multiple injuries in the second half of the campaign. An already thin squad coupled with injury crisis has again put what looked to be an easy top four finish, in doubt.
The club decided not to make any signings in January which is now proving to be a bad mistake. Lessons have been learnt and it seems that the Reds are eager to not repeat the same mistakes again in the summer as it is rumoured that FSG have fully back Jurgen Klopp for big money signings in the upcoming window.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a number of marquee names lately, including Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.
One player who has been continuously linked with a move to Anfield in recent years is Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette. The France international has been one of the most sought after stars for some time now and it seems that his suitors are finally ready to make big offers for the 25-year-old this summer.
According to French radio station RMC, Liverpool are back in the race to sign the free-scoring marksman. It was rumoured last month that Lacazette has a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid to join them in the summer.
The rumour has now vanished in thin air and Liverpool are now said to be competing with the La Liga giants and Borussia Dortmund for Lacazette’s signature.
Arsenal are also keen on the forward but it seems that the North London club will not have a chance, given their condition in the Premier League this season.
Lacazette, who has scored 31 goals and provided 3 assists in just 40 appearances for Lyon this term, will leave Lyon only for a Champions League club.
Liverpool have 5 games remaining and look to be in pole position for the fourth spot in the table. Recent injury scares have caused problems for Jurgen Klopp but the German will have to make sure that the Reds qualify for the Champions League in order to make those big money signings the clubs is preparing for.
Do you think Liverpool will be able to beat Atletico and Dortmund for Alexandre Lacazette?
