Italian giants Roma are said to be interested in providing an escape route to Liverpool’s out-of-favour defender Mamadou Sakho from Anfield.
It has become very clear now that Jurgen Klopp is not in favour of keeping Sakho at Liverpool beyond this season and the Reds have already started looking for a new centre-back.
According to Melissa Reddy of Goal.com, the Serie A club are preparing for Kostas Manolas’ departure this summer and will consider signing Sakho, who has been on their radar for a few years now.
Sakho is currently out on loan with Crystal Palace and has been fantastic for the Eagles in keeping them away from the relegation zone. The centre-back recently expressed his desire to stay with Liverpool but said that his Anfield future depends on what the manager decides.
Liverpool are expecting around £30m for Sakho and it seems that Crystal Palace would not be able to pay such amount for the defender.
Palace manager Sam Allardyce has been full of praise for the Frenchman but has admitted that it would be very difficult for the Eagles to sign the former PSG player.
Liverpool are planning to make Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk as their biggest ever signing and it is rumoured that the Reds could also propose a player (Sakho) plus cash deal for the Dutch star.
