Liverpool have been linked with a host of attacking players lately as it has become very clear that Daniel Sturridge will be leaving the Reds this summer. Jurgen Klopp will be in the market for an able replacement and is said to be ready to spend big money for a centre-forward.
While the Spanish press has been busy recently courting Philippe Coutinho for Barcelona, they have also created a number of rumours linking the Reds with several La Liga stars.
Recent reports in Spain claimed that Liverpool have made an offer of around £42M for Athletico Bilbao’s 22-year-old striker Inaki Williams. The story may sound completely rubbish, given that Williams is still unproven despite his huge potential.
But it seems that the Reds are interested in the Spaniard’s services as respected La Liga journalist Guillem Balague confirms.
When asked if there is a possibility of Liverpool signing Inaki Williams, Balague claimed that the Reds have been interested in the striker but the buyout clause is unreasonable.
“He was followed by Liverpool and has a €50m buyout clause,” Balague said on Sky Sports.
“I’m not sure any team would be willing to pay that right now because he has not proved that valuation. He is in no rush but he is certainly looking abroad should he move.”
€50m is indeed a huge amount for an unproven player and irrespective of Bilbao’s asking price, Liverpool need a more established marksman, like Alexandre Lacazette, who can score goals on a regular basis. Liverpool already have young potential in the form of Divock Origi and Ben Woodburn.
It is rumoured that the Reds are planning to spend around £200m this summer and Jurgen Klopp will have a huge task in hand to make the squad ready for a title challenge next season.
How much do you think should Liverpool spend for the La Liga star, given his huge potential?
